For My Spanish-Speaking Friends ...
I’ve taken to only listening to reggaeton and other Latin music whose lyrics I can’t decipher. This practice goes back to my osmosis theory in college with regard to my French class – in lieu of studying, I would sleep on my French book, watch the French channel, and only listen to French rap for a whole week prior to the exam. (Just so you know, it never worked.) I have an issue with just letting my beliefs fall into the abyss, though, so I think this new genre of music is tied to my desire to learn Spanish. I can’t seem to find time with all my moving and lack of funds to take a Spanish class, and I’m planning to refuse the Rosetta Stone route as long as possible. I did, however, attempt to sign up for some Spanish-learning podcasts, but that all just seemed sort of hokey. Not that my whole Latin music thing isn’t, but … whatever.
